Everything you need to know about the RAE mask — from first charge to long-term results.
Using the mask
Press and hold the power button on the controller for 3 seconds. The LEDs will activate and your selected mode will begin. The mask defaults to M1 on first use.
Each mode runs for 10 minutes with automatic shut-off. The manual recommends sessions of 10–20 minutes, 3–4 times per week. You may run two consecutive 10-minute sessions if you prefer a longer treatment.
Once the device is on, press the power button briefly to cycle through M1 to M6 in sequence. The mode indicator on the controller displays your current selection.
Yes. Press the brightness button to cycle through three levels: 50%, 75%, and 100%. If you have reactive skin, begin at 50% for the first week and increase gradually.
The pulse function is available in any mode by pressing the pulse button on the controller. It alternates the LED output to create a pulsed rather than continuous light delivery.
Clean, dry, and bare. No moisturiser, serum, or SPF between your skin and the LEDs. Anything applied before the session reduces penetration and may interact with the light.
Results and expectations
Most people notice their skin looks calmer and slightly brighter within the first two to three weeks. Structural changes — improved firmness, softened fine lines — take longer. The research supports 6–10 weeks of consistent use for measurable collagen-level results.
The six modes target fine lines and wrinkles, dullness and uneven tone, inflammation and redness, acne and congestion, post-breakout recovery, and general repair and rejuvenation. The concern you're addressing determines which mode is most appropriate.
Yes. LED therapy at these wavelengths has been studied across Fitzpatrick types I–VI without documented adverse effects. If you have reactive or sensitised skin, begin at 50% brightness with Mode M1 and observe your skin's response over the first week.
Three to four times per week is the evidence-based cadence. Daily use is not harmful, but the research does not indicate additional benefit beyond four sessions per week once your skin has acclimatised.
Device care and charging
Connect the included Type-C USB cable to the controller and plug into a 5V/2A power source. A full charge from empty takes approximately 3 hours. Charge fully before first use.
No. The RAE mask is not waterproof. Do not immerse in water, rinse under a tap, or use in the shower. If the device comes into contact with liquid, allow it to dry completely before use.
Wipe the surface gently with a clean, dry or slightly damp soft cloth after each use. Do not use alcohol, abrasive materials, or solvent-based cleaners on the silicone.
Allow the device to cool to room temperature before storing. Unplug the controller. Store in the included carry bag, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not place heavy objects on top of the mask.
Safety
Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive. Do not use if you are taking photosensitising medications — consult your pharmacist or GP if you are unsure. Do not use if you have a diagnosed light sensitivity condition (lupus erythematosus, photosensitive eczema, porphyria, albinism) or a hereditary eye condition.
Yes. The silicone eye guards must be worn during every session. Keep your eyes closed during treatment. Direct, prolonged exposure to high-intensity LEDs should be avoided.
The RAE mask is a cosmetic device. It is CE and RoHS certified. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. A qualified health professional should be consulted prior to use if you have any dermatological condition under active treatment.
Stop using the device immediately if you experience burning, persistent redness, or itching that does not resolve within 1–2 hours of a session. Perform the forearm sensitivity test before your first facial session if you have reactive skin.
